Job Purpose / Executive Summary

Accreditation officers are responsible for managing the accreditation process of universities and specialized degree awarding institutions and academic programmes in these institutions

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • advise on establishment of universities, campuses and colleges
  • evaluate proposals for establishment of institutions
  • coordinate components of accreditation activities undertaken by other departments
  • carry out technical evaluation of the various types of institutions applying for accreditation
  • capacity building of peer reviewers on institutional accreditation mechanisms
  • advise the Commission on readiness of institutions for accreditation
  • monitor, undertake regular inspections and assure compliance to the Act, Regulations and Standards for institutions under transition, constituent colleges and campuses
  • develop and review universities regulations, standards and guidelines for institutional accreditation
